By-Law Enforcement

The community standards and by-law enforcement program has been established to educate the public, provide enforcement and to maintain certain standards using by-laws. Some by-laws are necessary to address safety hazards, appearance standards, property protection and quality of life issues.

Amherstburg By-law Enforcement department investigates and addresses complaints that include but are not limited to; internal/external property standards, snow removal, dog licensing, dogs at large/nuisance, yard maintenance, parking infractions, noise, swimming pools, signs and fences.

Other components of our community standards and enforcement program include pro-active by-law enforcement, amending/creating bylaws, educating the public, and providing advice related to the Municipal Act and Amherstburg by-laws.

The Clerks Department welcomes any and all suggestions on how the Town can improve our community standards program. Please forward your concerns or suggestions to us in writing, by phone or by e-mail so that we can strive to provide the best service possible.

Complaints must be received in writing unless it relates to an immediate safety threat such as unsecured swimming pool, aggressive dog or any other hazard/situation you believe may pose a safety risk to others.

You can email complaints to bylawcomplaints@amherstburg.ca
