There has been a proliferation of frauds being perpetuated by criminals utilizing a vast array of electronic, telecommunication and mail mediums.  This is especially true when various advertisements or notices are being received over the internet.  The Amherstburg Police is committed to keeping our citizens informed on the types of “scams” being operated.

Citizens must remain vigilant and always remember that if they receive notice that they have won or inherited monies, vacations or other valuables, legitimate businesses will not be requesting personal information, copies of voided cheques or requests to send a nominal fee to process their winnings.
