Canada Day Celebrations

Fort Malden NHS, 100 Laird & Toddy Jones Park


Join us on Canada Day as our nation celebrates its 150th Birthday!   Enjoy all day long activities and entertainment at Fort Malden National Historic Site.  Grab a cool treat at the annual Ice Cream Festival and tie up your running shoes for the most patriotic run in Canada, Canada D'Eh 5K Run! Pay tribute to 150 community leaders at the CANdo150 medal ceremony. The day ends with a spectacular fireworks finale overlooking the Detroit River.


Congratulations to our CANdo150 Award of Distintion recipients!  We'll see you on Canada Day at 1pm!

August 5th and 6th

Canuck it UP!  Festival Canadiana

10am to 5pm
Downtown Amherstburg


Premier Canada 150 event for our region! Celebrating Canada's 150th Anniversary with all things CANADIAN in the beautiful historic Downtown of Amherstburg! 


This is a two day family focused event ! Activities and experiences are all Canadian and take place along the spectacular shoreline of the Detroit River!  Watch the West Coast Lumberjack Show, Rhythm of the Nation (Canada's mosaic cultural sounds and dance) and live performances throughout the day.  View the Tall Ship Appledor V.   Hang out in the Kids Zone, purchase local products in the Market or food court or visit the WORLD's LARGEST RUBBER DUCK!  Fort Malden will be re-enacting famous battles and feature an encampment.


Park House to feature, 150 years of HERstory, a fashion exhibit.

Culture Days:  Voyageur and Fur Trader Rendezvous

10am to 4pm

King's Navy Yard Park and Fort Malden National Historic Site


Enjoy live demonstrations of art throughout the King's Navy Yard Park.  Experience early French-Canadian and Aboriginal culture that was prevalent in Essex County through the 18th century.  During the weekend, visitors can taste period cooking, crafts, presentations and demonstrations relating to the iconic fur trade. Highlights will feature various canoes, Montreal boats and other period vessels recreating a historic Rendezvous.


The Gibson Art Gallery to feature the Canada 150 juried Art Exhibit.
