2014 Development Charges

The general purpose for which the Town imposes development charges is to assist in providing the infrastructure required by future development in the municipality through the establishment of a viable capital funding source to meet the Town's financial requirements.

The Council of the Town of Amherstburg passed town-wide By-law 2014-101 on October 3, 2014 under subsection 2(1) of the Development Charges Act, 1997.

Applicants should review By-law No. 2014-101 and 2015-61 and related studies and consult with the Chief Building Official to determine the applicable charges that may apply to specific development proposals.

By-law 2014-101 is to impose Development Charges to residential and non-residential development within the Town of Amherstburg, which fees are updated on an annual basis.

This summary is provided as general information only, and is not a guarantee of the total development charges. Final calculations and confirmation of amounts will be determined following the review of plans in supporting a building permit application.
