Voter Notification Cards have recently been sent to those individuals who are on the Preliminary List of Electors as supplied by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). If you are a registered voter, you should receive a Voter Notification Card in the near future. In the event that you do not receive a Voter Notification Card or if the information contained on the card is incorrect, please contact Kevin Fox at 519-736-0012 ext. 2250.
The Voter Notification Card is an extremely important document. It will advise you of the dates and times, as well as your voting location. Please bring this card with you to your assigned voting location along with another piece of photo identification such as a driver’s licence.
Nomination Period: commences on May 1, 2018 at the Clerk's Office during regular office hours. (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm)
Nomination Day: Friday, July 27, 2018 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Clerk's Department.
Election Campaign Period: begins on the day a nomination for office is filed and ends on December 31. A contribution SHALL NOT be made to or accepted by or on behalf of a person unless he or she is a candidate.
Election Day: Monday, October 22, 2018 (10:00 AM until 8:00 PM)
Nomination Day: Friday, July 27, 2018 until 2:00 PM
Nomination Period: May 1 to July 27, 2018 (until 2:00 PM) Inclusive
Advanced Polls: October 3, 2018 and October 13, 2018 (10:00 AM until 8:00 PM)
Pursuant to the requirements of the Municipal Elections Act, the Town of Amherstburg will be conducting an election in 2018 for the following offices:

To be a candidate, you MUST be a qualified elector. A person is entitled to be an elector if, on Voting Day (October 22, 2018) he or she:
a) resides in the local municipality, or is the owner or tenant of land there, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;
b) is a Canadian citizen;
c) is at least 18 years old; and,
d) is not prohibited by the Elections Act or any other legislation from voting or holding Municipal Office.

For the 2018 Municipal Election, the Town of Amherstburg will utilize the traditional method of voting whereby electors will attend a prescribed polling location (to be announced at a later date) to cast their ballot. Electronic tabulators will be utilized to assist in the counting of the ballots. This is the same method that was used in the 2014 election.
