Note: One parent or guardian must remain on the ice at all times. Parents skate at no cost. For your safety, skates must be worn on the ice. Helmets are strongly encouraged. Skate aids are permitted. Description: Bring your friends and start a pick-up game. This program is unstructured and unsupervised. Sticks and pucks are not provided. Helmets are required.

Youth Skating |

Description: Drop-in Youth Skating is an open skate time for youth to have an opportunity for physical activity and time to practice skating - an ideal program for families and educators who offer home-schooling and learning pods during the day Note: Unlike Public Skating, Youth Drop-in Skating is not staffed and is skate at your own risk. This is not to be used for pick-up hockey, sticks and pucks are not allowed.

Beginner Skating |

Description: Beginner skating is a dedicated time for those new to skating or those looking to come with a partner to practice basic skills in an environment that is not intimidating. Skate aids and trainers are allowed. This ice time is unsupervised and unstructured. There is an expectation that anyone who is a beginner is assisted by a person on skates that has basic skating ability. This program is sponsored by Pathway to Potential Recreation Assistance Program See below for cancellations

Public Skating |

Description: Public Skating is a fun and energetic activity to try with friends or the whole family. NEW: Use of Skate Aids are no longer permitted. Please see our Beginner Skate and Parent & Tot skating programs for ice time with use of Skate Aid Public Skating is not a ‘learn to skate’ program (see Beginner Skating). There is an expectation that those planning to participate have a basic skill level. Or, in the case of children, they are being assisted by a person on skates that has basic skating ability. Skating admission is based on rink capacity PUBLIC SKATING RULES 1. EVERYONE ON THE ICE MUST WEAR SKATES. 2. LISTEN AND ADHERE TO THE SKATE PATROLS AT ALL TIMES. 3. REMAIN OFF THE ICE UNTIL AFTER THE ZAMBONI DOORS HAVE BEEN CLOSED. 4. SMOKING, CHEWING GUM, EATING FOOD OR DRINKS ON THE ICE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. 5. RACING, HORSEPLAY, TAG GAMES, SKATING BACKWARDS OR FIGURE SKATE MANEUVERS ARE NOT ALLOWED. 6. SKATE IN A CONTROLLED MANNER AND IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS ALL OTHER SKATERS. DO NOT USE YOUR CELL PHONE WHILE SKATING 7. STANDING ALONG OR SITTING ON TOP OF THE BOARD IS NOT ALLOWED. 8. RESPECT SKATERS IN TRAINING. 9. FOR SAFETY REASONS THE CARRYING OF CHILDREN IS NOT PERMITTED. 10. WHEEL CHAIRS ARE ALLOWED ON THE ICE, PROVIDED THEY ARE IN CONTROL AT ALL TIMES BY A COMPETENT SKATER. 11. Parent & Tot - Turf Tots |

Turf Tots is an indoor drop-in activity that allows children between the ages of 0-5 years space to run, develop their gross motor skills and use equipment provided the Recreation Services Division and the Essex Power Fund such as crawl tunnels, foam blocks, and sports equipment. There is no instructor, so parent supervision is mandatory. Play is at your own risk. Dates: Turf Tots begins October 16, 2024 and will end June, 6, 2025.
No Turf Tots on the following dates: December 25, December 27, December 29, January 1, March 17, March 19, April 11, April 13, April 14, April 18, May 19, June 1. Sunday "Funday" Turf Tots! This program is sponsored by:

Program Cancellations:
• Should the minimum number of participants not be achieved 48 hours prior to the start of the program, the program will be cancelled.
• Should we cancel your program, your preference of a full refund, credit on account, or enrolment in another available program (of equal value) will be made.
• Please allow 3 weeks for processing and mailing of a refund cheque.
• Payments made by credit card or debit card will be refunded back to the card.
Withdrawals & Transfers:
• Full refunds will only be considered 48 hours prior to the first class.
• After the first class, refunds will be prorated from the date of request.
• No refunds will be granted after 3 classes have been held.
• Requests received less than 24 hours before a class will result in that class being considered attended.
Participant Behaviour:
The Town of Amherstburg wants to ensure that we create a safe and pleasurable environment for all of our participants. We make every reasonable effort for our programming to be enjoyable by all. While our staff is trained to address inappropriate behaviour from participants of all ages, we will not accept disrespectful or aggressive behaviour. If inappropriate behaviour is not changed, a participants’ actions may lead to removal from our programs and services without refund.
Media/Town Photographs:
By participating in public events held in conjunction with the Department of Parks, Facilities, Recreation & Culture, all participants grant the Town of Amherstburg the right to print, publish, broadcast, and use photographs in any manner deemed appropriate. The usage includes but is not limited to the Town’s Social Media Platforms and all other advertising materials. Participant’s photo/name could be used for public information without additional consideration or compensation.
