Large Items & Furniture:  Items such as box springs, mattresses, couches, chairs, toilets and similar materials can be put out on any regular garbage day.

If your pick up falls on a holiday, yard waste will be collected the Saturday prior to the holiday.

The only acceptable containers for yard waste are:  Paper yard waste bags, cardboard boxes, garbage cans/pails.  Note:  cardboard boxes are not returned.

Plastic bags containing yard waste will not be collected.

Tree trimmings must be cut and bundled into four foot lengths and shall be no larger than two feet in diameter.

Containers and tree trimming bundles are restricted to weights of 45 lbs (20 kg) or less.

Recycling

The recycling program is run through the Essex Windsor Solid Waste Authority.  Recycling throughout the entire Municipality is collected every other Friday.  Separate blue box items (plastic, glass, and cans) from red box items (paper products and cardboard).   Please see the Recycling Guide for further information on recyclable items.

Place your recycling curbside the night before your collection day.

While plastic bags has never been an accepted material in our recycling program, it may have been picked up during recycling curbside collection in the past.  However, as of June 1, 2020, the EWSWA recycling collectors will not collect recycling that contains plastic bags.

For general questions regarding the recycling program, please contact the Essex Windsor Solid Waste Authority at 1-800-563-3377 or email ask@ewswa.org.
