The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is charged with the responsibility of assessing the value of all properties in Ontario. The Province of Ontario sets the policies which relate to assessment and MPAC administers them.
Assessed values are then provided to municipalities, who then use these figures to determine your property taxes.
Residential property taxes are calculated using the assessed value, the town's tax rate, the County of Essex tax rate and an education tax rate set annually by the Province of Ontario annually.

AboutMyProperty is a secure, online self-service application that provides property owners with convenient access to property assessment information. Through this service, you can access property assessment information, site information, lot size and recent sales information on your property and similar neighbourhood properties of interest - free of charge.
You have the right to file a complaint about your assessment to the Assessment Review Board, an administrative quasi-judicial tribunal of the Province of Ontario. You must use the Notice of Complaint form, and submit it by March 31 with the appropriate attachments and fees to:
