2018 - 2022 Term of Boards and Committees

Call for Applications

Applications will be received until 4:30 p.m. on April 22, 2022 from eligible residents of the Town of Amherstburg who desire to have their name considered for appointment to the following committees for a term to coincide with that of Council. All submissions shall be addressed to the Clerk's Division and will be accepted by mail, facsimile, email or electronic submission by the noted date.

Amherstburg Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAAC)

Seeking two (2) members to be appointed to the Amherstburg Accessibility Advisory Committee. The committee's members provide diverse perspectives from unique lived experiences to advise Council in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and its associated regulations. This involves providing input on site plans and drawings and advising on the requirements and implementation of accessibility standards. 

Livestock Evaluator Committee

Seeking one (1) member to be appointed to the Livestock Evaluator Committee. The committee is responsible for  considering applications from voters who are entitled to vote in the 2022 municipal election and who believe that a candidate has contravened a provision of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 related to election campaign expenses. 

Successful applicants should demonstrate knowledge of municipal elections and campaign finances and will be appointed for a four (4) year term commencing November 15, 2022 and expiring on November 14, 2026. Employees of the Town of Amherstburg are not eligible to be a member of this committee.

Dangerous Dog Appeal Committee

Seeking one (1) member to be appointed to the Dangerous Dog Appeal Committee. The Dangerous Dog Appeal Committee is a a quasi-judicial advisory committee responsible for hearing the appeal of designations of dangerous dog's as issued by the By-law Enforcement Division. The mandate of the Dangerous Dog Appeal Committee is to hear and determine all appeals in accordance with the procedures established under the Statutory Powers Procedure Act.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee

Seeking one (1) member to be appointed to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee is appointed under the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation Act and Regulation 797, by by-law and advises Council on matters relating to the beautification, horticulture, forestry and landscaping initiatives of the Town's green space and parks.  The Committee is not mandatory under legislation however shall:

  • promote tourism and recreation in Ontario to residents of Ontario and other jurisdictions;
  • cause the Ministry to stimulate employment and income opportunities through the effective development of tourism and recreation;
  • encourage and support the use of parks, tourist facilities and attractions in Ontario;
  • ensure that adequate opportunities are available to all residents of Ontario to pursue recreational, sports and fitness activities appropriate to their needs and interests;
  • provide recreational, sports and fitness resources to municipalities and to provincial recreational and sports organizations; and
  • encourage and promote improvement in the standards of accommodation, facilities and services offered to the travelling and vacationing public.

 

Note: Employees of the Town of Amherstburg are not eligible to be members of committees.


2022 to 2026 Term of Boards & Committees

Election Compliance Audit Committee

Seeking three (3) members to be appointed to the Election Compliance Audit Committee. The committee is responsible for  considering applications from voters who are entitled to vote in the 2022 municipal election and who believe that a candidate has contravened a provision of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 related to election campaign expenses. 

Successful applicants should demonstrate knowledge of municipal elections and campaign finances and will be appointed for a four (4) year term commencing November 15, 2022 and expiring on November 14, 2026. Employees of the Town of Amherstburg, Council members and any candidates registered for the October 24, 2022 municipal election are not eligible to be a member of this committee.


 

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • be a tenant or owner of land in the Town of Amherstburg, or the spouse of such owner or tenant
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • have a demonstrated expertise, interest, and involvement in the sector(s) of the specified board
  • fairly represent the sector(s) of the specified board
  • commit the time required to work on the Board/Committee

 Applicants should:

Citizen members should be sought from those with demonstrated technical, professional or lived experiences. Such experience may be derived from training in related disciplines and work experience.
