Soldier Officers

The Town of Amherstburg provides Animal Control Services through the Windsor Essex Humane Society regarding stray dogs, injured dogs and dogs at large. While the Humane Society assists the Town of Amherstburg primarily with dogs, they will also assist with injured or sick stray cats or other wildlife.

In the event that your dog goes missing and is registered with the Town of Amherstburg, through the Dog Licensing Program, it can reunited with the owner.  The Town aims to reunite owners with their dogs as quickly as possible.  You can contact the Humane Society directly at:

Dog Control Officer: Tel: 519-966-5751 (24 hours).  You can also access additional information on Lost Dogs, through the Humane Society, by accessing the I found a Dog link.

The Pound servicing Amherstburg is located at Windsor Essex Humane Society, 1375 Provincial Road, Windsor.

The Town of Amherstburg has an Animal Control By-law that addresses some of the following items:

  • dog licensing, dogs off leash, dogs at large
  • general standards of care for animals
