Sale of Land for Property Tax Arrears by Public Tender
The Municipal Act allows the Municipality to register a Tax Arrears Certificate on any property if taxes are unpaid for two years prior to January 1 of any year. These timelines apply to all classes of property. Tax Registration is the first stage of the process where properties are at least 2 years in arrears and the municpality would like to begin the recovery process. Tax sale is the second state of the tax recovery process when properties become eligible for tax sale after the 1-year legislative redemptin period has passed.
