Municipal Properties of Interest (POI)

Properties of Interest are protected from demolition under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. Before being Designated, a property or structure is identified as a 'Property of Interest.' This is the first step towards Designation is to perform some research and evaluate a property's cultural heritage value. If a property is worthy, then it is added to the Municipal Heritage Register as a POI. Once designated as a POI, further research can be completed while the structure is protected from demolition. Properties of Interest are an important step in saving the Town of Amherstburg's cultural history.
