Proclamation from the Town of Amherstburg: National Disability Employment Awareness Month – October 2025

WHEREAS: National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is a national movement that ignites conversation about disability inclusion in employment, in business, and in our communities. Its purpose is to promote inclusive employment for people with a disability – celebrating their contributions to the workplace.

WHEREAS: Beginning on this day October 16th, 2025, the Town of Amherstburg in conjunction with National Disability Employment Awareness would like to issue this proclamation of the recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

WHEREAS: The Town of Amherstburg is committed to providing disability inclusion and services to all members of the public by responding to the needs of the national disability movement.

WHEREAS: The Town of Amherstburg will show its support for NDEAM 2025 by lighting up Town Hall in blue.

WHEREAS: This month we recognize the dedication and hard work of NDEAM and spotlight the many ways people who have a disability contribute to businesses and their communities, helping companies be successful and competitive.

WHEREAS: There are over 478 locations participating across Canada today.

WHEREAS: Last year over 800 locations nationwide shone purple and blue. Let’s make 2025 an even brighter success!

NOW THEREFORE: I, Mayor Michael Prue, on behalf of the Town of Amherstburg, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM OCTOBER 2025 AS “NATIONAL DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH” IN THE TOWN OF AMHERSTBURG and encourage the residents of Amherstburg to join the NDEAM national movement on Thursday, October 16th to spread awareness that ignites conversation about disability inclusion in employment, in business and in our communities.
