Now Hiring: Customer Service Representative (Part-Time)

The Town of Amherstburg is currently recruiting for a Part Time Customer Service Representative. The Part Time Customer Service Representative (PT CSR) will provide customer service to the public, residents and representatives from the community including government agencies, sports leagues and associations and service clubs. The PT CSR will also be assisting with the implementation of various recreational programs and special events offered at the Libro Centre.

CONTROLS OVER THE WORK: Reporting to the Manager, Recreation Services, the Part Time Customer Service Representative position follows established methods for provision of services from Town departments. This position also assists in the creation of new methods and procedures to better service the needs of the Recreation Services Division, where required.

Responsibilities

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets and interacts with customers in a consistent professional, approachable and responsive manner;
  • Assists customers with general inquiries regarding the facility, program registrations, drop-in programs and general Town procedures Responds to all email, phone and desk inquiries;
  • Manages program registrations and facility bookings for ice, sports fields and meeting/community rooms;
  • Participates in program registration sessions during peak registration times Maintains a balanced till, collects money and ensures proper handling of all money collected;
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace;
  • Monitors common areas for unsafe activities or violations of Town policies for general users, including familiarizing the public with the Town’s Code of Conduct regarding acceptable behavior, and reporting any problems or concerns to the Manager or designate(s) that may arise during the course of scheduled shift;
  • Completes all required reports and daily logs;
  • Ensures familiarity with and ability to carry out the emergency procedures of the facility. Responds quickly and appropriately to all incidents, accidents, and emergencies and completes Incident Reports, as required.
  • Provides customer service to all residents and representatives in the community on recreation matters;
  • Daily interaction with the Recreation Services staff and other department staff regarding programing or related matters, as needed;
  • Attend training, as required; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma Grade 12), or General Education Development Certificate (OSSD/GED) as an equivalent), plus courses in a related field;
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience in customer service setting which includes cash handling;
  • Experience in sports/recreation or a related environment, considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated good math skills including the ability to maintain a balanced till;
  • Demonstrated knowledge in computer-based software (Microsoft Office, web-based programs and other recreational scheduling programming);
  • Working knowledge of recreational facility scheduling software specifically to ensure efficient and effectively execution of scheduling requirements;
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and relay department policy to users/customers;
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and oral/written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated strong organization skills to effectively complete and prioritize assigned tasks and responsibilities within established time lines; and
  • Knowledge of sports and recreational scheduling to efficiently and effectively handle all scheduling requirements, considered an asset.

  • Must be familiar with and follow all safety policies and procedures of the Town;
  • Must have demonstrated good public relations skills and effective communication skills; and
  • Must be able to work well with a minimum amount of supervision and as part of a team.

Work Conditions

POSITION PARTICULARS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a part time, union position
  • Scheduled hours will vary based on the needs of the facility and programs and will include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as part of the normal hours of work
  • The PT CSR may be assigned split shifts, when required
  • Work will be conducted at the Libro Centre and at the Town Hall kiosk
  • Work involves sitting and working on a computer for long periods of time, and light lifting up to 10 kg.
  • Occasional exposure to escalated customer service situations
  • Incumbents are required to wear a Town provided uniform and Town issued ID to ensure ready  identification and service to users
  • The 2026 wage rate for this position is $29.68/hr.
