Now Hiring: Supervisor, Accounting

The Corporation of the Town of Amherstburg is recruiting for a Supervisor, Accounting.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services, the Supervisor, Accounting provides assistance in carrying out all statutory functions as set out in the Municipal Act, and related legislation, to ensure that appropriate financial reporting systems are in place with the necessary controls to provide information on the Municipality’s financial position and to meet legal requirements and professional accounting standards. The Supervisor Accounting oversees the organization and completion of daily work activities of direct reports, confirms the quality of work and maintains accurate employee records.

Qualifications     

  • University Degree in Business Administration or Accounting; and
  • A professional accounting designation in good standing (CPA).

Work Experience

  • Minimum of  five (5) years’ experience in progressively responsible accounting positions in a computerized, multi-discipline environment requiring transaction analysis, preparation of reports and financial statements;
  • 3-5 years’ Municipal accounting experience, considered an asset
  • Proficient experience using computer software and administrative systems (records management, presentations, database management and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); and
  • Hold and maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s license.

Employment Level: Full-time

Work Conditions

Work is conducted in an office environment. Hours of work include 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday with some flexibility to work outside of regular business hours to ensure priority work items are attended to. Attendance at Council meetings, Committee of Council meetings, and other meetings as required. Occasional lifting up to 10 kg.

The 2025 salary range for this position is $85,796 to $107,243.
