Payment Options: Canada Post Service Disruption

Residents and Businesses Encouraged to Plan Ahead During Canada Post Service Disruption
With the continuing nationwide strike by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, the Town of Amherstburg is encouraging residents and businesses to prepare for delays in all incoming and outgoing mail.
To avoid late fees and ensure timely service, the Town recommends the following options:
Making Payments:
- Online: Make secure payments for property taxes and other Town invoices by visiting amherstburg.ca/payments
- In Person: Payments can also be made at the Town Hall (271 Sandwich St. S), Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
- Drop-Box: If you can’t make it to Town Hall during regular business hours, an after hours payment deposit slot is located at the rear building entrance (accessible from the parking lot). Simply attach the remittance stub to your cheque, payable to The Corporation of the Town of Amherstburg, place both in an envelope, and drop it into the slot. Post-dated cheques are accepted, but we discourage leaving cash in the drop box.
- Pre-authorized Payments: Sign up for pre-authorized payments plan for taxes by contacting propertytax@amherstburg.ca
- Make tax payments through your financial institution.
Receiving Payments:
- Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT): Vendors and businesses not yet registered for EFT are strongly encouraged to complete the EFT vendor application form and either email it to eftvendor@amherstburg.ca or drop it off at Town Hall (271 Sandwich St. S).
- Cheque Pickup: Finance will contact vendors who are not currently enrolled in our EFT service if there is a cheque ready for pre-arrange pickup at Town Hall during regular business hours. Vendors also have the option of having their payment couriered to them at their cost.
Thank you to all residents and businesses for your cooperation.
