Commitment

The Corporation of the Town of Amherstburg is upholding the standards and guidance provided within the compliance framework of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). This commitment is guided by four core principles – dignity, equal opportunity, integration and independence. These principles support the needs of persons as set out in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. 

Feedback that May be Submitted

 

In accordance with the IASR and the AODA, feedback may be submitted about:

  • The manner in which goods, services or facilities are provided to persons with disabilities; and,
  • Feedback about whether the feedback process established complies with the requirements of the IASR. 

How Feedback May be Submitted

 

The Town provides an electronic feedback tool utilizing the accessible features of the Town’s web platform to receive feedback and provides for the provision of accessible formats and communications supports, on request.

Feedback must be provided with an individual point of contact to ensure that it can be reviewed and responded to.  

Requests for a description of the feedback process are available upon request, and are available in alternate formats, or, to provide feedback on the Town’s Multi-Year Accessibility plan, any barriers encountered, or any accommodations sought. Feedback Process

Feedback provided to the designated contact (other than anonymous submissions) will be acknowledged within ten (10) business days from the date of receipt. 

Feedback may be general or specific.

  • If general, the feedback may be acknowledged and no further specific reply may be provided to the submitter.
  • If specific, the feedback may be acknowledged and further exchanges or investigation may be required.
    • For specific feedback is provided, it should be sufficiently detailed to enable the Town to determine whether it pertains to the accessibility plan or to barriers or gaps that may have been experienced in service delivery. In some instances, a contributor may be asked for more information to assist in clarifying the issue(s). 

All feedback will be reviewed to assist in improving the accessibility in the Town of Amherstburg. Depending on the nature of the feedback, it may be shared within the Town or with any of its partners, service providers or customers, as may be appropriate.
