Heritage Weekend Returns July 31 to August 2

Amherstburg’s rich history will take centre stage as Heritage Weekend returns from July 31 to August 2.
Throughout the weekend, downtown Amherstburg will come alive with heritage-inspired activities, live demonstrations, Town Crier Competitions, and interactive experiences as part of Open Air Weekends. Heritage Weekend officially kicks off Friday evening with the Town Crier declaring the start of the festivities, followed by live music, a traditional bagpipe parade, and more activities throughout the downtown core.
A highlight of the weekend is the Fort Malden Living History Festival, where history is brought to life through engaging demonstrations, costumed interpreters, and authentic displays. The festival offers a unique opportunity to experience 19th-century military and civilian life, providing an educational and entertaining look into Amherstburg’s role in Canada’s early history.
Additional experiences can be found at the Park House Museum, where visitors can further explore local heritage and gain insight into daily life in Amherstburg’s early years.
