New public access Automated External Defibrillator installed at the Libro Centre Fieldhouse

The Town of Amherstburg is pleased to announce the installation of a new public access Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at the Libro Credit Union Centre Fieldhouse, further enhancing community safety and emergency preparedness.

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable, easy-to-use device that analyzes heart rhythm and can deliver a shock, if necessary, to help restore a normal heartbeat during a cardiac emergency.

This initiative was made possible through a partnership with Essex-Windsor EMS and Enbridge Gas. Through Enbridge Gas’s Fueling Futures Program, a generous $30,000 grant is supporting the installation of life-saving AEDs across all municipalities in Essex County, as well as the City of Windsor and the Township of Pelee.

In Amherstburg, the new AED is located under the fieldhouse pavilion between the Miracle League Diamond, accessible playground, and the baseball diamond—placing it in a central, high-traffic area of the facility. The unit is housed in a circular, all-weather, heated, illuminated, and alarmed green ROTAID cabinet with a clear cover, ensuring it remains highly visible and easily accessible.

The AED is available for public use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year in the event of an emergency.

The Town of Amherstburg extends its sincere thanks to Essex-Windsor EMS and Enbridge Gas for their partnership and support in bringing this important resource to the community. Their commitment to public safety is helping ensure that residents and visitors have access to life-saving equipment when it matters most.
