Now Hiring: Senior Financial Analyst

The Corporation of the Town of Amherstburg is currently recruiting for a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA).

Reporting to the Manager, Purchasing, Capital and Grants, the Senior Financial Analyst is an experienced financial professional with exceptional time management, communication skills, analytic abilities and attention to detail. The Senior Financial Analyst assists in the preparation, monitoring and consolidation of annual corporate budgets, performs financial analysis to facilitate management decisions on assigned projects, union negotiations and other strategic and confidential management initiatives. This position provides support to the Supervisor, Revenue and Supervisor, Accounting by assisting with handling all municipal financial affairs and managing the accounting, financial controls, accounting systems and financial analysis in accordance with corporate policy, best practice and financial principles.

  • Providing departmental and cross-departmental support.

  • Provides and maintains a high degree of confidentiality and security of information;
  • Understands and adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Town Health and Safety policies and procedures; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with department corporate objectives.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Business, Finance/Accounting or related field;
  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA) or progressive to substantial completion, considered an asset;
  • Certified Municipal Revenue Professional, considered an asset
  • Professional Payroll Certification, considered an asset; and
  • Completion of Municipal Finance 101, considered an asset.

Knowledge

Thorough and demonstrated working knowledge of applicable legislation, municipal taxation, and general accounting transactions (posting, documenting, controlling and reporting)

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years demonstrated financial experience, municipal setting preferred
  • Experience preparing and/or delivering training and information sessions preferred
  • Hold and maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s license

Work Conditions

Work is conducted in an office environment. Hours of work are 37.5 per week, Monday through Friday, with evening and off-site meetings as required to meet deadlines and manage fluctuating workload demands. Occasional lifting up to 10 kg.

The 2026 salary range for this position is $74,783 to $93,477.
