Sanitary Manhole Inspection Program

August 2026 – September 2026
Wastewater Collection System Maintenance
The Town of Amherstburg will be conducting sanitary sewer manhole inspections throughout the municipal wastewater collection system. This important maintenance program helps assess the condition of sewer infrastructure, identify maintenance requirements, verify asset information, and support the continued reliability of the sanitary sewer network.
What to Expect
Crews will be conducting inspections within designated areas of the municipality during regular business hours. Authorized Town staff and/or contractors may be working near sanitary manholes located within road allowances, easements, and, where applicable, on private property.
Work will typically occur Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.
During inspection activities, residents may notice:
- Town vehicles and personnel working in the area.
- Manhole covers being temporarily opened for inspection purposes.
- Equipment being used to collect condition assessment information.
- Temporary traffic control measures near inspection locations, where required.
- Brief access requests where sanitary sewer infrastructure is located within private easements or properties.
Property owners are asked to ensure that sanitary manholes and surrounding areas remain clear and accessible for inspection. Please remove or relocate any items that may obstruct access, including stored materials, vehicles, or equipment.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this important maintenance work to help ensure a safe, reliable, and resilient wastewater collection system for the Amherstburg community.
