Public Notice – Water Valve Exercising Program

August 2026 – October 2026

Water Distribution System Maintenance

The Town of Amherstburg will be conducting its annual water valve exercising program throughout the municipal water distribution system. This preventative maintenance program helps improve system reliability, supports fire protection, and reduces the risk of unexpected water service interruptions.

What to Expect

Crews will be conducting work within the area bounded by Front Road, Texas Road, Middle Side Road, and Concession Road 2 during regular business hours.

Residents may notice Town vehicles and staff operating near roads, hydrants, and valve chambers. Work will typically occur Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Temporary fluctuations in water pressure may occur.

Some customers may experience temporary discoloured water following valve operations as sediment within the watermain may become disturbed.

If You Experience Discoloured Water:

1.      Run a cold-water tap for several minutes until the water clears.

2.      Avoid doing laundry until the water is clear.

3.      If the issue persists, contact Infrastructure Services at 519-736-3664

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this important maintenance work to help ensure a safe, reliable, and resilient water distribution system for the Amherstburg community.
