Amherstburg Recreation

Pathway to Potential (P2P) recognizes and promotes the full participation of all Windsor-Essex residents in recreational, cultural and artistic programs and services regardless of financial circumstances. P2P, in partnership with the Town of Amherstburg and County of Essex provides the 90% Recreation Discount Program. This program is designed to assist Amherstburg residents living in low-income households to register and participate in organized, quality recreation, culture and artistic activities by offering fee subsidies.

Families with limited income may be eligible for financial assistance through the Pathway to Potential (P2P) program.

How it works

1. Eligibility ~ Program eligibility is based on the size of the family unit and the family’s annual net income, as per the Statistics Canada low income cut-offs (LICO). Due to limited funding, only Amherstburg residents are eligible;

2. Funding ~ Funding is based on a first come, first serve basis. The Town of Amherstburg reserves the right to reject any claim if funding is no longer available;

3. Pay 10% ~ The registrant is responsible to pay 10% of the program cost at the time of registration. Only programs approved by the Town of Amherstburg are eligible for coverage. Not funded are individual lessons, travel sports, uniform/clothing fees or yearly membership or association fees;

4. How to request funding ~ Applicants must confirm they are eligible for funding by meeting the following criteria:

  • Show proof of residency in the Town of Amherstburg;
  • Proof of income for most current tax base year:

    • Every member of the household should be included on the proof of income documentation
    • Single-person household:
      • Can include Notice of Assessment (NOA), GST/HST Credit notice, or Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) notice
    • Two or more person household (without dependants):
      • NOA, and/or GST/HST Credit notice and/or OTB notice for each person
    • Household with dependants:
      • Canada/Ontario Child Benefit (CCB/OCB) notice (lists parent, marital status, and dependant names)
