Amherstburg's Waterfront Festival Plaza

This 1.2 hectare Regional Special Purpose park is located directly south and abutting King's Navy Yard Park. The property was purchased by the Town in 2017 with the intent of re-developing it as expanded parkland.

A municipal environmental assessment was completed in 2018 and a master plan was developed for the park. The high level master plan encompasses a transient marina, an outdoor ampitheatre/gather space and plaza to host special events complete with washroom facilities. Over the past several years the Town has been working with the Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks (MECP) to remediate the site so that it is suitable for use as a public park.

The Town recently approved just over $3 million to remediate the shoreline with new rock revetment and steel sheet pile walls as well as clean up the site and install necessary subsurface infrastructure and site servicing. This project is currently ongoing with anticipated opening in 2026.
