H. Murray Smith Centennial Park

This land, originally comprised as part of the Bell Farm, was acquired by the town in 1933. In 1977, the park was officially changed to H. Murray Smith Centennial Park. Smith served as Mayor from1965-1978, during which he was instrumental in the construction of the Community Centre Arena and development of the park.

The park resides in the heart of Amherstburg and was a former sport athletic park. In 2018 half of the park was sold to the Essex County District School Board for the construction of the new high school. The remaining 4.9 ha underwent an extensive re-development process. The final design adopted is displayed below.
