Larry Bauer Park and Libro Credit Union Recreation Complex

The land was purchased in 2003 and the soccer park named in member of Larry Bauer who passed in 1994. The park was designed to be the Town's premier athletic park dedicated to sports excellence within the Town.
The northeast quadrant of the site has been approved to be the home of Amherstburg's new Fire Station. The northwest quadrant houses a skatepark with plans for a pump track and bike skills park. BMX trails and pathways were constructed in 2023, 2024 and 2025 by a local riding club, the Windsor Essex Bike Community (WEBC) that operates the trails through a unique land use agreement.
The park has a large assortment of various sized soccer fields, a premier artificial turf baseball diamond, Miracle League diamond, accessible playground, artificial turf football/soccer field, 8 pickleball courts and a dog park at the far south end of the property. In 2022 a grant was secured to develop a 3km multi-use trail that frames the parameter of the property.

The park is a comprehensive multi-use recreational facility that integrates inclusive design, sustainable infrastructure, and diverse amenities. The thoughtfully reimagined landscape masterplan enhances the facilities' role as a regional destination by expanding its functional programming. The design accommodates large community gatherings ad evets with flexible open spaces and infrastructure to support cultural and recreational sports centre of excellence.
