The County of Essex is hosting a free information session on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 6-9PM at the County of Essex Administration Building, for anyone interesting in learning more about the rules and procedures for running for office in Ontario.
2026 Municipal Election
Town of Amherstburg is proudly conducting an election on Monday, October 26, 2026 for the following offices:
Municipal: One (1) Mayor, to be elected at large; One (1) Deputy Mayor, to be elected at large; Five (5) Councillors, to be elected at large
School Board Trustees: One (1) for each school board

April 8, 2026 - Prospective Candidate Information Session
May 1, 2026 - Nomination Period Begins
The filing period for the 2026 Municipal Election nominations opens on May 1, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
Nominations must be filed in person at the Town Hall, 271 Sandwich St. S. Electronic submissions will not be accepted. Appointments for nominations are preferred but not required. To schedule an appointment, Email the Clerks Office or call 519-730-2128.
Appointments will last approximately 1 hour.
August 21, 2026 - Nomination Period Ends
Friday, August 21, 2026 (between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.) is the LAST date to file a nomination or to withdraw your nomination.
October 7 & 17, 2026 - Advance Voting Days
There are two Advance Voting Days where residents can vote prior to Election Day.

- Location: Libro Credit Union Centre
- Hours: 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 17, 2026
- Locations: Libro Credit Union Centre and Anderdon Public School
- Hours: 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
October 26, 2026 - Election Day
Voters in the 2026 Municipal Election will be provided with a voting place to attend on Election Day but may choose to attend any of the voting places. The voting places are as follows:
Libro Credit Union Centre, 3295 Meloche Road
- Hours: 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
North Star High School, 330 Simcoe Street
- Hours: 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
McGregor Columbian Club, 9560 Walker Road
- Hours: 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Voters List
Beginning with the 2026 municipal election, Elections Ontario has taken over responsibility for managing the Municipal Voters List. Use the button below to confirm your information, update your details, or add your name and home address. You may also remove your own information or that of a deceased individual from the list.
Verify Your School Support
The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) collects information about school support designations for voters. Homeowners and tenants in Amherstburg are encouraged to review their designation and make any updates by June 1, 2026. To confirm or change your school support, visit MPAC’s website.
