Election Signs

The most critical rule is that signs must be on private property.

• Private Property Only: Election signs are only permitted entirely within private property lines. You must have the permission of the property owner or occupant before placing a sign.
• Publicly Property Prohibition: Parks, Right of ways, and other municipally owned property is prohibited from displaying election signs.
• Do Not Block Sidewalks: Signs must be set back at least 2 feet from the edge of any public sidewalk to ensure safe passage for pedestrians and those using mobility devices.
• Keep Boulevards Clear: Signs are NOT permitted on the public right-of-way. This includes the "boulevard" area (the grass strip located between the sidewalk and the street curb).
• Intersection Safety (Sight Triangles): To ensure drivers can see clearly at corners, signs are prohibited within "sight triangles" at intersections.

To prevent distractions to drivers and damage to infrastructure, the following types of sign displays are banned:

• No Distractions: Signs cannot be animated, flashing, rotating, or have the appearance of movement.
• No Traffic Interference: Signs must not resemble, block, or interfere with any official traffic sign, signal, or device.
• Mounting Restrictions: Signs cannot be attached to trees, fences, utility poles, or any public boulevard appurtenance (e.g., benches, hydrants).
